CONCERNING CONFESSION

THE BIBLE SAYS…

Compiled by Daniel L. Wakefield

·         Psalm 32:5                     I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

·         Proverbs 28:13                         He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

·         Daniel 9:3-4                    And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; (see vs. 3-19)

·         Matthew 10:32               Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  (See Luke 12:8)

·         Romans 10:9-10           That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

·         Philippians 2:9-11        Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  (see Romans 14:11)

·         James 5:16                     Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

·         1 John 1:9                      If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

·         1 John 4:1-3                   Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.  (see 2 John 1:7)

·         1 John 4:15                    Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
