Who We Are- Our Pastors

Dan Wakefield Senior Pastor - Dan Wakefield has served as senior pastor of Abundant Life Church since 1991. His wife, Esther, serves the church as Children’s Ministries Director and is a second-grade school teacher. Dan and Esther have two sons, Philip and Stephen. Pastor Dan attended Oral Roberts University (1977-1979) and Central Bible College (1979-1981). Pastor Dan has served as senior pastor to congregations in Leoti, Kansas (1981-1984), Olathe, Kansas (1984-1990), and currently here in Overland Park. He deeply enjoys preaching and singing. His interests include music, Kansas basketball, and Chiefs football. Called to preach at age fifteen, Pastor Dan has more than twenty-six years of pastoral ministry experience. He is served ably as a church planter in Johnson County. |

Mark DeFeis- Associate Pastor, Music and Youth - Mark DeFeis has served as associate, music and youth pastor at Abundant Life since 2006. He and Pastor Dan have been close friends for over twenty years. Pastor Mark received a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Human Relations from Mid America Nazarene University. He also earned Ministerial Study and Specialized Music Ministry diplomas from Berean College. Pastor Mark has been ordained with the Assemblies of God since 1991. During most of his ministry, he has worked as an information technologies recruiter or as a sportswriter. Like you, he knows first-hand what it’s like to juggle a secular career and a life devoted to God in today’s complex world. Pastor Mark’s passion is missions. He has guided several church building teams throughout the world. He is gifted in music and directs our Sunday Morning worship. |
